Inauguration of a 60-Day Environmental Protection Campaign
On August 9th, marking the anniversary of the August Revolution of 1942, Sambad Group launched a new campaign addressing the current climate crisis. Recognizing the urgent need for collective action, this 60-day environmental protection campaign titled “Punashcha Pruthibi” was inaugurated to address climate change challenges across all 147 legislative constituencies in Odisha.
The campaign began with the symbolic offering of a brochure at the Puri Jagannath Temple, seeking blessings for its success. During the campaign, “Climate Panchayat” will be organized in each constituency to involve local representatives and citizens in climate action, emphasizing the creation of a Climate Atlas. This atlas will document environmental challenges, raise awareness, and promote grassroots involvement.
Experts like Yugabrata Kar and Sujit Mohapatra stressed the importance of proactive environmental measures and the necessity of widespread discussions on climate issues. The campaign will culminate in a three-day citizens’ conference from October 2nd to 4th, featuring various awareness activities such as walkathons, cycle rallies, tree plantation drives, and film festivals. Sambad Group has partnered with several organizations to ensure the campaign’s success, aiming to create a sustainable future for the next generation.
A Call to Action
This campaign is a clarion call for all stakeholders to unite in preserving our environment, much like the August Revolution rallied for India’s independence. The success of this initiative lies in collective responsibility and active participation, ensuring that the legacy we leave behind is a thriving, sustainable planet.
